Muzzle

Shut the harsh frequencies up. Only while they bark.

Fizz on the guitars, a scream that cuts your ears, a snare that rings like a box. A static EQ cut fixes the ring and dulls everything else. Muzzle cuts the ring only while it's ringing, then lets go.

The Muzzle plugin: a live spectrum with the cuts hanging from the top in ember, the focus range lit, and depth, sharpness, selectivity, timing and focus controls
How it works

It listens to every frequency.
Only the loud-mouths get cut.

  • Judged against its neighbours. Each frequency is compared with the ones around it. Only what sticks out gets cut, so a broad, warm bump stays where it is.
  • As much, as narrow, as picky as you want. DEPTH sets how far it can cut, SHARPNESS how narrow, SELECTIVITY how far a ring has to stick out first.
  • Point it where the problem lives. FOCUS keeps it to the range you choose, ATTACK and RELEASE set how fast it grabs and lets go.
  • Hear what it takes out. DELTA plays only what's removed. MID/SIDE works on the centre and the sides separately. SIDECHAIN cuts another track's resonances out of this one.
  • Start from the problem you have. 24 presets: Fizz Tamer, Palm Mute Mud, Scream Harshness, Harsh Cymbals, Boxy Snare, Ringing Toms, Bass DI Honk, plus vocal, EDM and pop sets. Every one level-matched.

The honest part: Muzzle analyses before it cuts, so it adds about 43 ms of latency, reported to your DAW so everything stays lined up. Use it while mixing, not while tracking live.
